We believe it is of rare value to UNCA students and the community to have a forest within walking distance of campus and downtown Asheville where one can enjoy and study so many plant species.

This project serves to observe, identify, and protect all native wildlife in UNCA Woods, as well as document threats to native wildlife from introduced and invasive species. This project is part of the broader ongoing Save the Woods campaign, a community-led effort to prevent the university's attempt to develop and destroy this tract of vital urban forest.
